This project comes within the framework of joint cooperation between the ministries of petroleum and electricity to provide services and experiences exchange and take advantage of foreign expertise in this area to keep up with the latest telecommunication systems to serve the electricity networks. Eng. Mohamed Abd Elahafez – EMC Chairman & CEO- Stated that the winning of this contract is a result of the continuous & serious quest of EMC to expand its business and provide services and exchange of experiences with all country sectors. He had also pointed out that the project aims to rehabilitate and upgrade communication systems of 250 power stations for the benefit of Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) from Giza governorate up to Aswan High Dam, funded by the Japanese government. In addition, he had stated that the project comes within the development plan of Upper Egypt regions, where two central control units will be established, one in Middle Egypt at (Smalout) and the other in Upper Egypt at (Naga Hammadi) to allow remote centralized control to these stations (transformers stations capacity 220 kV and 66/11 kV), as well as (generating stations 500 kV and 220 kV) to connect directly to the central power control. Pointing out that (EMC) shall supply 32% of the telecommunication devices for this project, in addition to the installation, commissioning and testing of all communication devices for 250 power station, which relies on fiber-optic cables as a basic network and the wireless telecommunication devices as a network backup. |
