EMC Initiatives towards related SDGs Actions

EMC strives to implement actions that are aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and strengthen
adaptive capacity and resilience to climate-induced impacts and climate action plans in terms of
raising awareness about the importance of climate action, enhancing human and institutional capacity
concerning climate change mitigation and adoption of renewable energy sources; aiming to move
forward towards greener resources, in line with COP27 & MOP direction.

During 2022, the following actions were taken addressing our initiatives towards positive climate
which are and not limited to:

▫ Initiating Knowledge transfer program with AIBEL for Green Hydrogen Projects.
▫ Changing the HQ lights to LED and considering the adequate lux leading to saving in electrical consumption.

▫ Optimizing the central HVAC temperature & operating hours leading to reduction in natural gas consumption.
▫ Adopting campaign “Together, we can Save Energy” promoting behavior change for fair consumption.

▫ Acquiring ISO 50001:2018 for Energy Management & updating related procedures.
▫ Converting some company’s vehicles to operate on natural gas leading to saving in fuel consumption.

▫ Working on a project of Oil Spill Boom in Alamein City to protect the main water intake.
▫ Transplantation & relocation of corals in Aqaba Terminal Development project to save coral colonies.

▫ Actively participating in waste heat recovery projects and flare gas recovery system projects.
▫ Working on Paperless technology - less ink & emissions "Saving trees Saving Environment".
